◎Mounting
Basic mounting method 基础上马
Stand on the near side, facing the horse’s tail. Hold the reins in your left hand,With your right hand, twist the stirrup toward you clockwise. Put your left foot in the stirrup.
Put your right hand over the center of the saddle. Hop up and down once or twice,then spring up off your right leg. Swing it carefully over your horse’s back.
Try to land in the saddle gently, so that you don’t strain your horse’s back. Once you are settled,put your right foot in its stirrup and take up the reins with both hands.
Getting a leg up 腿辅助
Face the saddle and bend your left knee. Your helper supports your knee and ankle.
As you spring, your helpr lifts your leg up to help you into the saddle.
Using a mounting block 使用上马台
Position your horse so he is standing with his shoulder next to the mounting block.
Climb up onto the block and mount, using the basic mounting method.
◎ Dismounting
As with mounting, you usually dismount on the near side, though you can dismount on the off side if it’s an emergency.
To dismount on the near side, take both feet out of the stirrups. Keep hold of the reins in your left hand to stop your horse from moving forward. Lean on the pommel and swing your right leg carefully over your horse’s back.Support your weight with your arms briefly, then jump down, landing on both feet.
