INTRODUCTION OF CHINESE EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION

Chinese Equestrian Association (CEA) was established in 1979, Beijing. It has been a member of the Federation Equestrian International (FEI) since 1983. And the chairman is Mr. Jiadong Cai, while the secretary-general is Wei Chang at present.

CEA is a non-profit national sport organization with the objective of developing and promoting equestrian in China. It is the supreme authority for governing equestrian and related sports in China.

CEA is the international governing body for equestrian in China, and it is the sole representative to communicate with national and international bodies on behalf of the sports of this kind in the whole country including FEI, International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, and other international horse-related sports organizations, as well as National Equestrian Federations (NFS).

CEA is composed of more than 30 sub-associations from each province and a municipality of China. It is constituted of equestrian professionals, coaches and administration. It is also one of the members in All-China Sports Federation, and is a national sport association accepted by Chinese Olympic Committee.CEA is professionally guided and supervised by the General Administration of Sport and the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

In the past years, CEA has organized the China team to participate in many main international equestrian competitions, e.g. the test event for the Athens Olympic Games, and Asian Games in Thailand and Korea. Especially, a historic zero breakthrough was fulfilled in Dressage with a silver medal at the Pusan Asian Games in 2002.

As the host country, CEA successfully organized the 3rd Asian Equestrian Championship, and the FEI East Asian Nations Cup (CSIO), as well as FEI World Dressage / Jumping Challenge competition. Besides, CEA has also organized many training and education for its trainers, judges and other professionals.

As the 2008 Olympic Games is approaching, the main task of CEA is preparing fully to obtain good results during the Games. The predetermined target is to gain the gold medal in Asian Games 2006 and do well in Olympic Games 2008. At the same time, with the wonderful chance brought by Olympic Games, CEA will promote the equestrian sports further while making the equestrian and related sports popular.
