| Olympic trees planted on Lantau Island Hong Kong |

【Hong Kong's Information Services Department】More than 3,000 people have planted 10,000 trees on Lantau Island to celebrate China hosting the Olympic Games and Hong Kong co-hosting the equestrian events. Launching Hong Kong Tree Planting Day 2008 this Saturday (29 Feb), Chief Secretary Henry Tang led the participants in planting trees on a slope near Pak Mong Village. Public and private organisations joined in, including China's Hong Kong Liaison Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, the Housing Society, Housing Authority, Fire Services Department, Civil Aid Service and Radio Television Hong Kong. More than 1,000 members of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison also took part. The plantation area will be named Olympic Green.
